Thanksgiving!

We didn't have a huge get together just close family (which is better if you ask me). This is the first year I actually helped make lunch for everyone so that means this is the first year I had to clean up after it was all done too. Last night after work I helped cut turkey, make cinnamon butter, and whip up some Texas sheet cake; and to take the nerve off we played a round of chubby bunny.
This morning I hoped to sleep till 9 but no such luck, I was up and ready to go by 8:30 am. So after getting dressed and eating some cereal I was in the kitchen getting ready. My grandma had about 5 meltdowns in an hour’s time, so I pealed and cut up 10lbs of potatoes for the mashed potatoes, made my green bean casserole, helped make stuffing, and spiral ham (my favorite).
All in all it was a good day for food, family, and playing Barbie’s with my little cousin. Now watching Netflix and napping until later when Jesse and I go on our “holiday date night movie”.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Concert and Quarters

I am so sorry this is late! I planned on doing this post Sunday night and I ended up falling asleep around 8 and then yesterday after work I was going to write it but I decided I wanted NEEDED(insert sarcastic voice here) to bake. Worst idea EVER! I decided to try a recipe from Pinterest for apple pie cookies and I am pretty sure they would of turned out, but I was tired and didn’t feel too great and honestly after I started making the stuff I HATED myself; So of course I half assed it. I won’t even post a picture of the mess, because that’s what it was a HUGE mess of sticky caramel, apple pie mix, flour, and homemade pie crust dough and if you know me you would know that I CANT stand to be sticky. Even as a kid my mom said if I got anything sticky on my hands I would walk around with my fingers spread apart crying saying “ticky” until she cleaned them off. So anyways I got so fed up and put it all in a pan and baked the “slop”. Jesse was sweet and ate some of it and said it was really good, I don’t know because I didn’t even try it! Any who sorry to get so off track!
Friday night my mom and I went to the Brad Paisley concert with Chris Young and Danielle Bradbery. The concert was so much fun! And it was in fact the first concert I have EVER been to! They all sounded really good live and I got to hang out with my mom for a change. I felt so bad though, my little cousin got tickets for an early Christmas gift from our Grandparents, but come Friday morning she was sick and couldn’t go. So I stood in line and got an autograph from Danielle Bradbery for her (that’s who she really wanted to see) and she even put an “Ivy, hope you feel better” message on it. She was so sweet!
Me, my mom, Her friend, and her daughter.
Saturday was the first Saturday that I have had off in I don’t know how long, and lucky me I get this Saturday off too. So Saturday was pretty lazy. I did however get to have lunch with one of my very good friends I hadn’t seen in a few weeks and then later that night we hung out with his best friend and played quarters after he put this cutie to bed.
Now let me tell ya I am not very good at that game! I mean yea I can make it in the glass every now and then but this girl has no talent at bouncing a quarter off the table into a shot glass at all; Except Saturday night. I somehow managed to bounce it off the table and it landed on the rim of the shot glass! I couldn’t believe it, and I did bet the guys.
Sunday was so lazy. We watched TV all day while it was raining/ storming out. Mind you it was in the 60’s on Sunday! Crazy! But it resulted in some funky weather and Tornados just south of us (I think). Luckily we didn’t have any of that, just rain and crazy strong wind.

Weekend recap

This past weekend has been pretty laid back, nothing too crazy or fun for my 3 day weekend.
Friday night we went to see the new Thor movie with the in-laws. I LOVED it. It wasn't what I thought it was going to be but it was still worth seeing.
These were taken Wednesday on my half day at Rock Cut park. It was so pretty out on the trails!

Saturday after work was the definition of a lazy day. We did nothing all day, we didn't even leave the house. Saturday night I made spaghetti squash and we watched Dexter on Netflix until we fell asleep.
Sunday just so happened to be Fuzzy’s 3rd birthday! So we had lunch over at my aunt and uncles house followed by cake and ice cream, and then birthday presents. I even played hide and seek with her, which basically meant she counted to 3 while I hid in the same spot over and over, but it was totally worth it to her that cute little laugh every time she “found” me.
She LOVED her boots!

Monday (I know it’s not part of the weekend but banks were closed today so it was a weekend for me) I actually got to sleep in today and loved every minute of it! I ended up going to get a pedicure with my grandma this afternoon and then coming home and watched more Dexter while it was cold and snowing out.

Happy Veterans Day, and Thank you to all who have served and are serving!

Tattoos

This is one of my most viewed posts from my old blog so I thought I would re-post it here. I don’t have much to say about tattoos. I like tattoos, I have tattoos, and that’s about it. I think tattoos are a person’s own choice, and they have the right to get as many as they want. I don’t care if you don’t like my tattoos, get over it. They are MY tattoos and each one has a different meaning to me. So I will put a little description with each picture.
This is the first tattoo I ever got. It is a dove with the olive branch in its mouth and it says never lose hope. I didn't have an easy life growing up, but it certainly wasn't the worst. I got the dove with the branch in its mouth because God sent Noah the dove with the olive branch as a sign of peace or hope, which meant alot to me. Never lose hope, No matter how bad the situation.
This is the second tattoo I got. It says living without regrets. It is in Italian, I had it written in Italian because I am part Italian.
The third tattoo I got with my best friend Alyssa. She HATES butterflies, so it’s kind of funny that’s what we ended up getting. Basically it’s just a best friend tattoo.
This is my Christian fish, with a cross for its eye. I always wanted to get a cross or fish tattoo, so I figured why not get both.
My fifth tattoo is a stargazer lily. The stargazer lily is my favorite flower, and purple is my favorite color. When I visited my aunt one summer she had a gorgeous garden and I took a picture of one of her flowers and that’s what my tattoo is of, except its purple and not pink and a bit more animated.
This tattoo is for my mom. We got matching tattoos for her sobriety. It meant a lot that she finally stopped drinking. I promised her we would get matching tattoos once she stopped drinking and had been sober for two years.
And last but not least my matching tattoo with my husband. Its the roman numeral 27 for our wedding date. This is the only tattoo that is visible all the time. I LOVE this tattoo and it is my favorite of all the ones I have, and it means the world to me.
Dreamer. This one means exactly what it says. When I am having a down day and I catch a glimpse of it in the mirror it reminds me to always follow your dreams.

Most of my tattoos have a bit more meaning then what I wrote, but I don’t feel the need to explain why I have them. And some of the reasons are personal.  there are all my tattoos for now.

Halloween/Weekend Recap

So this past week we both went back to work. The week started off VERY slow at work, I couldn't stand it! Thursday was Halloween and we ended up taking our niece and nephew(Alyssa & Josh) to the trunk or treat at our church. The church was packed! They had such a good turn out and the kids loved it.
Friday I worked and came home to catch up on laundry and watch Dexter.
Saturday I worked like always and came home to take a nap. I went over to our neighbor’s house about 8:30 pm-ish. I ate dinner with them then we watched TV. Jess got off early so he ended up coming over about 1 and we all played pool.
Sunday was an extremely lazy day! We watched little kid movies all day (I LOVE little kid movies. They always make me feel better when I’m sad or sick). I had to run to target to get new shoes because I wore my favorite pair so much they had holes on the bottom of them after we went to see Bad Grandpa. It was freaking HILARIOUS!!! I laughed so hard I started to cry. Today was a long day at work! We were busy at one location and crazy slow at the other and to top it off my feet were hurting because my new shoes gave me a blister on the top of my foot..ughh!!!
So now it’s time for the Bears vs. Packers game and after a little Dexter! Go Pack Go
